Memphis-Based Company ALCO Partners With Neighborhood Christian Center to Care for Memphians During Pandemic

ALCO Management, Inc. has long partnered with Neighborhood Christian Center of Memphis to help break the cycle of poverty and serve underprivileged families. Now, amid a pandemic, those services are needed more than ever.

Neighborhood Christian Center provides emergency food, clothing and housing items to more than 53,000 individuals in need across the mid-south. Here in Memphis, they are actively working to break the cycle of poverty through emergency food, sustainability training and empowerment classes for Memphians of all ages.

Since the early stages of health crisis precautions beginning in Memphis, NCC services have not only continued as usual but ramped up to meet the increasing needs this pandemic has created due to job losses, school cancellations and resource scarcity. With the help of Shelby County Schools and the YMCA, the team at NCC is delivering an average of 800 meals a day to help provide children across Memphis with meals they would have otherwise been given at school. The NCC has also given more than 1,000 masks to those in need with plans to distribute 3,000 more.

NCC operations are housed in five of ALCO’s many properties across Memphis. Ephie Johnson, president and CEO of the NCC says partnering with ALCO has been a blessing at times like these. “Our team never stopped serving Memphians in need when COVID hit and our efforts have only increased. It’s hard not being able to hug the people you’re helping daily but we’re happy to still be able to stay on our feet serving the smiling faces we love so much. Having a team like ALCO back us up is incredible because no matter how busy or hard things get they are always asking what they can do for us and calling to check on our well-being. It’s partnerships like these that really make an impact.”
