Certainly 2020 has been a year like no other in the history of ALCO. We knew 2020 was going to be different because of all the changes we were planning, but we had no idea how different it would be. I want to thank each and every one of you for your perseverance this year as we have all faced new challenges related to COVID-19. Everyone has been impacted in some way: where we work, how we work, where and how we gather with family and friends, and how our children attend school. “Virtual” has become our daily reality. It is important that we stay focused on keeping ourselves and those around us safe by taking all the precautions we now know so well: washing hands, wearing a mask, and social distancing.
At the same time much about ALCO remains consistent and stable. Over the last 50 years, Frank guided ALCO based on the principals and values of Caring, Anticipation, Responsiveness and Growth. As I shared with you in July, as I announced our planned organizational changes, staying true to our values and focusing on our vision of Building Community by providing quality affordable housing for low-income families and seniors across the Southeast will guide us in the years ahead.
In 2021:
• We will continue to focus on building our expertise in affordable housing.
• We will continue to grow by acquiring new properties while maintaining the properties we own through routine repairs and extensive renovations.
• We will continue to refine and implement new policies and programs to help us serve the members of the ALCO team, the residents, investors, and
owners of our properties.
• We will look for ways to ensure that ALCO remains a sustainable and profitable company.
I hope we are all looking forward to 2021. Yes, to say goodbye to 2020, but mostly to continue the good work we do day in and day out as members of a great team.
