Celebrating Leanne Murray’s 40 Years with Alco Management

We are thrilled to celebrate Leanne Murray, our esteemed Director of Compliance, on her 40th anniversary with Alco Management. Since joining the team in 1984, Leanne has been a cornerstone of our success. Her journey, marked by determination and an unwavering commitment to excellence, is a testament to her passion for this work.

When Leanne Murray joined Alco Management in the early 80s, she stepped into the role of accounts payable clerk. “I was hired to basically pay the bills,” she recalls with a smile. “The work was quite boring, and I did not think I would be with the company for more than a year.” At that time, Alco was a modest operation with around 25-30 employees in the mostly empty Commerce Title building on Main Street.

However, Leanne’s potential was quickly recognized. After we relocated to Wagner Place, she climbed the ranks, moving from bookkeeper to system administrator, then training coordinator, and finally, to Director of Compliance. In her current role, Leanne is responsible for monitoring compliance with the regulatory guidelines of affordable housing programs, including tax credits and Section 8.

Fast-forward to 2024, and Alco Management has grown and evolved significantly. “We are much more employee-oriented, and communication is better than ever,” Leanne notes. “We speak with site staff regularly and have truly built a wonderful culture.”
One of the highlights of her year is the annual seminar where site managers from across the region gather for training and fellowship. This year’s seminar is particularly special, as it coincides with Alco’s 50th anniversary—a milestone that adds an extra layer of celebration and reflection.

For Leanne, her work goes beyond the daily tasks – It’s about making a real difference in people’s lives. “We are providing affordable housing to people in need,” she explains, underscoring the importance of Alco’s mission. While her role has changed, Leanne finds her work more engaging and fulfilling than ever.

As she reflects on her journey, Leanne’s gratitude for Alco is palpable. “My job has changed tremendously over the past 40 years. I love the work I do now, and it is never boring. Alco is a great company to work for, and I am grateful to be part of the team.”
