DIGGING IN JELLICO

  |     |   News

There is a long history of mining and excavation in Campbell County. In the 1880s, a large, high-quality coal deposit was found in the Jellico Mountains. Shortly after, what was once known as Smithburg, was incorporated as Jellico, TN.

Almost 140 years later, CMCC, LLC, one of Alco’s long-time contractor partners, continued that legacy when they successfully excavated the land underneath Magnolia Terrace’s B building to create a new community office for the property. When Alco purchased the property in 2018, the property management team was working from a converted 1BR unit located in the residential hallway of the B building. It was a tight squeeze to say the least.

Now, the property has a beautiful, functional community office that serves as a great first impression for a property that is undergoing a significant transformation. The construction project is humming along at Magnolia and is technically about 50% complete. Most of the work at the A building has been finished and the contractors are moving through the B building now. We are all very excited about the opportunity to preserve and improve these apartments homes in Jellico.

One of the things that Alco looks for in a partner is a shared commitment to our values. CMCC has been a great partner of ours, and one reason is that they truly care about the residents in the apartments that they are working on. We want to thank them for working with Nicholas Creekmore and his team to put together a Thanksgiving meal for the residents at Magnolia Terrace. That is definitely an example of Caring!
